The Flyfisher Foundation
Where passion for fly fishing meets a commitment to conservation.
Welcome
We are dedicated to ensuring that fish and water are vibrant and healthy for generations to come.
Supporting Fish & Fisheries
Over more than 20 years, The Flyfisher Foundation has donated more than half a million dollars toward conservation, fisheries science, and the preservation of literature about fly-fishing in Oregon.
The Foundation’s mission is to preserve and enhance the natural environment that supports healthy fisheries, as well as research about fish and fisheries, and the literature that discusses fly-fishing.
Our Mission
The Foundation’s mission is to support science related to fish and fisheries, environmental conservation, and the preservation of fly-fishing literature.
Our 4 key building blocks
Conservation
The Foundation has provided $384,420 in funds for conservation (thru 2023). These Oregon projects are just a sample of grant projects which include habitat restoration; watershed recovery after wildfire; marine challenges that threaten fish habitat; monitoring critical rivers for invasive species and water quality; and opening over 100 miles of fish habitat.
Fundraising
Each year, we gift our annual conservation grant starting with $20,000 in funds for nonprofits who are dedicated to our mission. Members in the Flyfishers’ Club of Oregon and community supporters donate funds for our conservation targets.
Research
The Flyfisher Foundation has provided an annual $5,000 grant to the Oregon State University for a stipend toward a graduate student’s work related to fisheries and their habitat.
Joy of Fly-fishing
A collection of literature about the art and history fly-fishing is located at the Multnomah County Library, in the “John Wilson Special Collections” room. The collection, which has been compiled by and with the financial help of The Flyfishers Club, is viewable upon request to any user of the Multnomah County Library.
